This great elixir mixes the fresh citrus taste of lemons with creamy yogurt for a nice refreshing smoothie for breakfast, a snack, or even after working out. The bright, sunny color, coupled with its tangy taste, should help perk you up and give you a nice energetic boost! 🌞πŸ₯€

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 banana
  • Juice of 1 large lemon
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for sweetness)
  • 3-4 ice cups

After numerous attempts, I finally nailed the perfect ingredient ratios to recreate the famous Detox Island Green smoothie from Tropical Smoothie CafΓ©! πŸŽ‰ The result? A rich, creamy smoothie packed with refreshing tropical fruit flavors, a lovely ginger kick, and a beautiful hint of lemon for an extra zing. It’s a true taste of paradise! 🌴✨

I used regular filtered water, but coconut water would make an even healthier and tastier option.

Now, for the nutrition details: my Detox Smoothie has about 34 grams of sugar and 195 calories per 16-ounce serving. Since the banana is the main source of both the sugar and calories, you can use a smaller banana to reduce those numbers if desired.

As an added bonus, this homemade smoothie costs less than $3 per serving.

Instructions:

Add all the ingredients to your smoothie cup or blender in the order listed. Blend for about 1 minute, or until you achieve a smooth consistency. This recipe yields a 15-16 oz serving, depending on the size of the banana used.

Noteworthy For the best flavor and texture,πŸ˜‰Fresh and ripe fruits πŸŒπŸ‹, especially bananas and lemons, while blending the perfect detox smoothie, do bring out the best. Replace normal water πŸ’§ with coconut water for a richer taste that gives you more of that tropical feeling, besides, coconut water does give the much-needed beneficial electrolytes. For reducing sugar content, one might opt for smaller bananas 🍌 or take lesser parts of other fruits 🍊 that have a high content of sugar. A hint of fresh ginger lends a really nice warmth and depth to the flavor profile, while lemon πŸ‹ contributes refreshing properties with just enough zest to take this smoothie to a whole new level.
