For the Batter

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (60 g) all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt

For the Apples

  • 2-3 medium apples
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup (50 g) brown sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Optional Toppings

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel sauce

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Apples: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the apple slices, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Sauté for 5-7 minutes unti.
  • Make the Batter: Whisk together the eggs, sugar, and vanilla in a mixing bowl until well blended. Gradually add the flour, salt, and milk, whisking until smooth and lump-free.
  • Assemble: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).Grease a 9-inch baking dish and arrange the caramelized apples in an even layer.Pour the batter over the apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  • Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the clafoutis is golden and set in the center. Remove from the oven and let it cool .
  • Serve: Dust with powdered sugar and add your favorite toppings like whipped cream or caramel sauce.

Notes

  • For a tangier flavor, use Granny Smith apples.
  • Add a splash of rum or apple brandy to the batter for a more complex taste.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor, but leftovers can be stored and reheated.
